Daydreaming in Paris

I can see it. I can see the sparkling lights of the tower. The flowers that decorate the exteriors of cafes as people rush past to continue their days. I hear them speaking their beautiful language so quickly I can’t keep up at all but I pretend to understand. I smell the delicate mixture of bread and rain that’s about to reach our corner of the street. I probably shouldn’t stay and get wet but I’m here. I’m actually here in my dream city and I can’t move. I don’t want to move, I don’t want to go anywhere else. I can feel the rain start to trickle down but I’m so happy I don’t care. It’s kind of surprising considering how much I hate getting my hair wet, but it doesn’t matter right now. People rush past me while I’m holding my umbrella gaping at the breathtaking monument I’ve dreamed of seeing for years. It’s very obvious that I’m a tourist. This is the moment I’ve waited for my entire life. The moment when I’m standing on a corner in Paris and understanding the beauties of the world that I’ve been missing. My heart, soul, and mind are aligned for the first time in a long time and I just feel utter euphoria. I’m so close I can taste it. I’m so close. Unfortunately, I have to come back to my reality in Orlando but I can still smell the bread from the bakery and see the flowers in the cafe. I’ll make it. I know it will, I just have to be patient but you’ll see. I’ll make it. I’m so close.
